Appointments

Request an appointment

When you request an appointment, we’ll recommend the best person and type of appointment for your issue.

We have a range of clinical roles at the surgery.

As many of our appointments require some element of review before they can be booked in, we do not offer online booking. Only Cervical Smear appointments are available to book through the NHS app. Please use these for their intended purpose only.

Request an appointment using an online form

You can request an appointment by telling us about your condition or symptoms using an online form.

We’ll review your answers during practice hours and contact you to make sure you get the right help.

This could be

  • self-care advice
  • a follow-up phone call
  • a follow-up video call
  • an in-person appointment

You need to be registered with the practice to use this service.

Blood Test Appointments

We understand that sometimes the wait for a blood test appointment can be longer than you or we would want.  Each week Riverport Medical Practice takes around 200 routine blood samples in our booked appointments – and urgent same day blood requests are often in addition to this.

Many of these appointments are bloods requested by local hospitals and we agree to take these bloods as a courtesy to them and for your convenience.

If you require a blood test more quickly than we are able to offer, there are several options available to you:

  • If your blood test has been requested by a hospital department, please speak with them about getting your blood test carried out.
  • Cambridge University Hospitals offer a drive-through service at the Newmarket Road Park and Ride site, Cambridge CB5 8AA. This is open Monday to Friday 9.30 am to 4.30 pm (excluding bank holidays). The service is for anyone over the age of 16 and who is in possession of a blood test form. Please collect this from the practice before attending the drive-through. Please note, there is a maximum height limit for vehicles of 1.98 m (6′ 6″). Walk-ins, motorbikes and bicycles cannot be accepted. Full details can be found here.
  • Princess of Wales Hospital Ely offer a bookable blood test service. Patents should call 01223 808522 or 01223 808892 for an appointment and must collect a blood test form from the practice before attending.
