Staff Bereavement
Our team have sadly received the news this morning that a former colleague, and dear friend, has passed away. Please be respectful and patient with our team members during this time.
Janet Mead worked at the Practice here in Somersham from September 2020, having previously worked at Church Street Health Centre. Janet joined our team with a wealth of General Practice experience, undertaking a number of administration and business support posts over the following four years. The experience Janet had gained enabled her to play a key role in our training and induction process, assisting and supporting many new members of staff in recent years.
Outside of work, Janet was a dear friend to many of us. Social events, dinners, and casual coffees were often in the diary. Janet recently attended a charity Zumbathon that had been arranged by another member of our team, Juliet, who is also a local Zumba instructor and close friend of Janet. This event successfully raised £1050 for Macmillan Cancer Care at the Woodlands Centre, Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
Janet sadly became unwell last summer, and took a period of leave from work before retiring from the Practice in spring 2025. Throughout that time, Janet remained in contact with the team and her colleagues, whom she’d formed such close friendships with.
Very sadly Janet passed away on Wednesday 23rd July 2025. Janet’s effortless sense of humour, quiet strength and unwavering composure, and kind and compassionate nature will be missed by everyone who knew her. On behalf of the entire team at Riverport Medical Practice, I would like to extend our sincere condolences to Janet’s family and friends at this very difficult time.
